  1. i've seen it 3 times online, and once live. i've seen more straight flushes than i can count. the live one happened about 2 years ago, the 3 online were all this year.

  2. Since Texas Holdem has a 7 card statistical base, the chances of a Royal Flush are  one hand out of 30,940.

The components of a Royal Flush hand are generally within the starting hand choices of most players. So it is more likely that players with a good starting hand that could lead to a Royal Flush are going to see a flop. And if the flop improves their hand, they will stay through the turn and river. Of course not all the potential royal flush hands will be seen at showdown, since some will have folded before the royal flush is made.

I don't know why we need to "add all the people who play just that" if you are only interested in the odds of seeing a royal flush in your lifetime.

So again it depends on how many hands you see, or how often you play. If you play three Texas Holdem online tournaments a week, and see 400 hands in them, and play for five years,  that provides you with the opportunity to see over 104,000 hands.

Do this and you are almost certain to see one at least one Royal Flush.

Bottom line: If you play a lot, you are going to see one in your lifetime.

  3. i have seen two in the past 2 weeks

  4. The odds of you getting a royal flush is about 1 in a 650,000.

Therefore the "chances" of you simply seeing one is solely based on the number of hands of poker you witness in your lifetime.

For example, if a person plays 50,000 hands of 6max online poker. This person should be dealt a royal flush once in every 13 months or so.

However, you question simply stated to "see" one. This gets more complicated because you include the other players hands into your calculation and you would need the hand to shown. Most players would show the royal, but there is no guarantee.

If you assume all royals will be shown down, then a person playing 50,000 hands of 6max holdem online would see a royal about once every 3 months.

To sum it up, the more hands you play, the more likely you will see a royal.

  5. If you play a lot of poker (especially online) it's a lot more unlikely that you will NOT see one than will. They come up more often than you think.

  6. too many variables, but more than likely!
