Whats the origin of corn?

Im a cornoligist..sounds funny, i know. But could somone please tell me the origin of corn to help me further my studies and improve on my knowings of corn.

please have deep details on the origon or any other certains facts about corn that could help me furhter my studies thanks! it really means alot!

  1. That's ok ryder's mom. Corn is a New World plant. It was cultivated by Indians and not heard of until the Spanish returned with gifts, of corn Corn provided the basic food for peoples thru out the Western World. It was so important to a person's well being that  it was even worshiped. Corn was refered to as maize in the new world. Back in the good old days, all you needed was a few kernels and several acres. And you could grow enough to see your family thur the winter. Modern corn is not self reproducing, It has to be artificially bread. Corn is not only a source of food, but materials, for baskets, writing. clothing and decorations.
