Whats the penalty for shoplifting at kohls?

ok so i was recently in a position where i was accused of shoplifting at kohls with my cousin i didnt take anything but i got charged because i knew of the crime i was charged so before you start judging me i dont have a criminal record a pretty well achieved student that jus got caught up and was at the wrong place wrong time. does anyone know of any penalties that might happen

:yes i was held in jail

:the manager pressed charges

my parents know

and i feel really bad caan someone tell me something please it would be appreciated

  2. If you are under the age of 18 it won't get held against you on your permanent record as an adult and schools won't look at it.

  3. Looks like they charged you with complicity. I have worked LP at Kohl's before, and Id say the best option is to call the store and talk to the Loss Prevention department. Explain the situation and apologize. If they havent gone to court yet , there is a very slim chance they may drop it. The chances of this are very small so I wouldnt get my hopes up, but it wouldnt hurt. Other than that , learn from this mistake and move on. : )

  4. Shoplifting is petty theft.  The penalty doesn't depend on the store.  If convicted (and this sounds doubtful) you would probably get a fine and probation.  Get a lawyer NOW!  You don't want this on your record.
