  1. You can probably handle the stiff shaft, or will in another couple years as you continue to grow and get stronger.  But the tour model Hi-Bore has an open face so you are going to have problems with more fading and slicing off the tee.

  2. I would get a regular and avoild the stiff 9.5. I would buy a regular flex hi bore 10.5. If you fade the ball the tour will fade it more due to a open face and to stiff of a shaft will push the ball right too.

The 10.5 will give you more height =flight time=distance and hopefuly the regular will bring the ball more to the left side = more distance.

A 7 iron 160 is good. most ppl fall in the 155 range so that is about normal.

Test Drive the drivers. Cleveland is a great brand

    good luck.

  3. Babes love the stiff shaft.

  4. As a general guideline, you should only swing a stiff shaft if you hit carry the ball at least 250 yards with your driver.  Otherwise, get a regular flex.  Even if you hit the ball 275 yds off the tee, you probably only carry around 235 yards.  Basically, you're probably better off with a regular flex.

This site talks about it some. http://golf.about.com/cs/tipslessons/a/s...

You're better off with a shaft that's too flexible than too stiff.  Also, different brands have different ideas of what regular and stiff mean.  So do some research before you get a specific shaft.

  5. I suggest you get a Golf lesson since your slicing the ball. The instructor/pro will determine which best shaft for you. Try to check the Cleveland Highbore Draw 10.5 also.

  6. need to go to a pro shop and has equipment to tell you what speed and temple that you are.there's all kinds of a devices in stores they can match are all that .not by somebody watching you need launch  monitor to tell you the real facts

  7. it's like a car - take a test drive first with the golf shop pro

    xx

  8. how fast do you swing?  if it's less than 100 mph, go with the regular.  101-115 mph, go with the stiff.

unfortunately, if you slice alot (as you say), stay away from the Tour version, at least till you get that slice under control.  The Hi-bore Tour's face is open 3 degrees more than normal, so it would exacerbate any fade/slice you already have.

  9. Your swing speed and your height are the 2 key factors that you need to get measured.  You say you are tall, so the length of the shaft is going to have just as much impact as the flex.  Agree with below, that using a launch monitor to "tune" a club to your swing is critical.  You might even end up with a higher or lower loft.   Lots of golf stores have the technology to do this - they charge a "fee" for the service, but typically deduct it off the price of the club.  Good luck

  10. A very vague question.  If you told us your swing speed or the distance of your 7-iron, I would have given you a straightforward answer.

But my rule of thumb, is if you hit a 7-iron at least 160-yards with height, then I would tell you to go with the "stiff" shaft.

Now, you should also consider torque.  This depends on how you want your ball to fly.

  11. I have that driver and i love it =] if you want it stiff then you should be able to release the club real well otherwise go with regular

  12. i would get regular make more bend in the club producing even more speed and will make the ball go further

but you should demo the club with both shaft and get a pro to tell you which is best

  13. A major consideration in choosing a shaft is your swing speed. Speed, however, is a subjective matter. What is fast to you may not be fast to others.

I did not have access to a launch monitor, so I did not know my swing speed. When I started the game, a friend gave me a Callaway Big Bertha Titanium driver. It is the predecessor of the 454. It had a regular shaft. I always sliced no matter how applied anti-slice measures. I read somewhere that fast swingers using regular shaft tend to slice, the reason was that when a fast swinger swings, the regular shaft bends such that the clubhead gets "left behind". Although my hands have squared at impact, the clubhead has remained slightly open.

A stiff shaft also bends, but to a degree less than a regular shaft.

I purchased a TaylorMade Burner with a stiff shaft and my ball flight became straighter.

In answer to your question, the answer depends on the results of whatever shaft you are using now. If your ball flies fairly straight, I would suggest that you stick to whatever shaft you are using now. There would not be much point in changing to something else.

The best way to resolve the issue is for you to go to a driving range that has a pro shop that offers the driver that you wish to purchase. Try one with a regular shaft then try another with a stiff shaft. Get the shaft that gives you the better performance. Don't rush your decision, though. Decide after several trial sessions.

  14. your best bet is to get custom fitted. But here are a few general rules which the club fitter will look into.

    swing speed-  80-110mph=Regular flex shaft

    swing speed-  110+mph=Stiff flex shaft

    hope this helped
