Whats the point in different size clubs?

why cant you just hit it extra hard if you want it to go far and lightly if you want to hit it a small distance?

  2. the poster above has the correct answer. but in early golf they only had 2 different irons. they have made game improvement clubs to help out the recreational golfer. But it is possible to use only one iron and a putter and still shoot bogey golf. i have done this myself with a 7 iron.

  3. Different lofts help to make full and consistent swings that either fly low and go long, or fly high and go short. It is harder to get consistent distances by making hard or easy swings with one club than to make regular swings with different clubs.

  4. If you try to hit a ball too hard it ruins your shot. And trying to change your power while swinging ruins your game.
