  1. There are many reasons for becoming a vegetarian, but since you insist on the idea, that humans are animals, and animals eat other animals, fine, lets stick to that thesis.

Not all animals are carnivores, but most of them are herbivores anyway.

Carnivores have claws, no skin pores, but perspire through the tongue, sharp front teeth and no flat molar teeth for grinding, strong hydrochloric acid in their stomach to digest meat and an intestinal tract 3 times their body length so rapidly decaying meat can pass out quickly.

Herbivores (and humans) have no claws, perspire through the skin, have flat rear molars, stomach acid 20 times less strong than meat eaters and an intestinal tract 12 times their body length.

Plus, humans have a brain to think with, emotions, feelings...most of them at least.

  2. For me, it's the following reasons:

    1. I don't like the idea of killing animals.

    2. It isn't necessary to eat dead animals.

    3. I don't like the taste of any kind of animal flesh.

    4. I believe in doing what feels right for me and I don't care if other people don't agree with me.

  3. I am a vegetarian because I couldn't live with myself if I wasn't one. I couldn't look at myself in the mirror if I knew that I had consumed an innocent creature who would never have harmed me.

Yes, humans are animals and we are the smartest animals on the face of the planet. Because of that, we know that it isn't necessary for us to consume the flesh of others for our survival like it is for other animals who have no other choice. In fact, a lot of problems would be solved enviornmentally if humans stopped consuming meat.

I am a vegetarian because I love ALL animals and am willing to do whatever I can do to help them.

  4. There are hundreds of reasons to be a vegetarian!

There is no reason for us humans to eat meat. When we can get any food/nutrients we want from the grocery store, there is no reason to kill other animals for our food!

(I do, however, understand people in 3rd world countries eating meat, when all they have to eat is what they farm. But they are more respectful of their animals and they do not waste as much).

Also, we waste SO much corn on livestock, and now we need it to create alternatives to gas!!!

I'm a vegetarian and it doesn't seem right to torture other animals when we don't even need to eat them anymore.

I could go on and on...

See links below for more information.

  5. Why do I need a point?  What's your point to being a meat eater?  You've probably never even thought about it.  If you don't need a point, why should I?

I do it because humans are capable of and responsible for weighing the ethical implications of the decisions they make.  There is no dietary requirement whatsoever for dead animals in my diet, and I feel that it's ethically indefensible to kill to satisfy my tastebuds alone.  It also happens to be better for the environment and for my personal health.  I happen to like not having blood on my hands.

  6. Reading the other answers, I guess I'm unusual, but I do not do it for health or for the environment. I do it for the sake of morality! Murder is WRONG and by eating meat you are supporting murder. It's unethical. Yes, the health/environment are added bonuses, but really, I do it because eating meat is just WRONG. I personally hope that meat eaters are reincarnated as factory farm animals so they can experience the pain they have proudly caused to other living beings.

By the way, you think it's okay to eat certain animals, but WHY would you not eat...

    a dog?

    a cat?

    a rabbit?

    a bird?

    a horse?

    a dolphin?

    a monkey?

    another human?

    There's something to think about...

Edit: I see you've made the excellent point that humans are animals. Very good! So, since you like to eat animals, are you going to start eating humans now? You said it yourself...

Edit 2: @Dan - Yes, Dan, I know. That's exactly my point. Some people practice cannibalism too. Why don't you?

  7. The point for me is I know I am not eating an animal who suffered his whole life with not 1 day of happiness or pleasure just so it's meat can please my belly. Another point is it's much healthier and less cruel.

  8. Whats the point of being a vegetarian?

Whats the point in this question?

If people wanna be vegetarians and vegans, let them be who they want to be.

There's alot of benefits anyway, it can reduce the risk of heart disease, and many other diseases and can also help you to loose weight.

  9. 1.For the earth

    2.For the animals

    3.For your health

It's MUCH more sustainable to be a vegetarian.

Vegetarianism puts less strain on the earth's resources.

Vegetarians are less likely to be overweight.

It is a more compassionate dietary choice, and vegetarians on average live longer too.

[edit] I have no problems at all with meat eaters. Most of my family and friends eat meat. I only have an issue with those who try to stuff cheeseburgers down my throat.

  10. thats what u might think, but some of us actually feel bad for supporting the killing of millions of animals. i do it for the animals. and its not bull. how would u like to be slaughtered? and yeah, that might just be life, but seriously, we r humans. we're supposed to be more advanced than a shark or an owl. people should really realize that we DONT have to hurt and kill other poor, helpless animals to survive. we dont live out in the wild. we have brains. we have consciences.

  11. For the record, meat is not bad for your health, fake processed foods are.  Humans need to get certain amino acids from animal products, and thousands of years of human culture have created delicious ways to do it.  Moderate meat consumption is healthy and a good choice.  Thinking in absolutes is what causes problems.

  12. I personally think meat tastes nasty, smells nasty, and has a nasty texture. Call me picky but I don't eat nasty food.

  13. Exactly. It is called the circle of life. When we die and are buried all the animals will eat us. Vegetarians and Vegans are so up their own asses about the food and lifestyle they lead because they think that they are so smart and savvy or whatever and think they know more than us knuckle-dragging meat eaters.  BTW did you know that vegans really suffer from what is called Orthorexia Nervosa which is a fixation on righteous eating.

  14. okay buddy, first of all there are many species that are vegetarians. people choose it for many different reasons. for some, eating meat is just plain disgusting. it's eating something that lived breathed, it was ALIVE. those people tend to be vegan and would photosynthesize if they could.

Other people are vegetarianns because of health reasons. It is so easy to eat healthier if you are a vegetaria. Think about it, you basically cut out all fast food restaurants from your diet.

Also, the animal rights situation. you probably have no idea how the cows that you eat are treated. their whole life is just being fed foodds induced with unatural hormones, being stuck in a small space with way too many other cows, and then being brutally murdered. The people who work there have no sense of what they are doing to these animals and therefore feel no shame.

Another reason to be vegetarian is because it is so good for the earth. The mass pproduction of animals for their by-products is a bigger cause of global warming than all of the transportation methods in the world.

  15. Some people do it for the health benifits.

  16. I say we are all gonna die anyways so might as well be happy and eat a bloody steak with some A1!!!                  Yummy to my tummy!! We dont have sharp teeth to eat just lettuce.

  17. MY point is that I am NOT going to support  FACTORY FARMING.

  18. Well, it sure is a good thing that your thoughts carry absolutely no value.

I'm pretty sure that no other animals force their prey to live in completely unbearable and unnatural conditions from birth until death.

  19. I'm a Vegan and i dont eat meat for the following reasons:

    -its bad for your health

    -its bad for the environment

-why would i kill an animal when i dont have to?

also, i wouldn't chastise anyone for eating meat. you shouldnt chastise anyone for not eating meat.

  20. I'm a vegan for health reasons only.I had high blood pressure, diabetes, ulcers and a host of other problems.I was able to overcome all of these problems over time by eating raw foods only and taking vitamins.I feel like a kid again.I wasn't very healthy when I was a meat eater.

  21. Well..I think everyone has his own reasons, and by my point of view as a vegetarian, reallay the most boring question everyone asks me is WHY are u a vegetarian..

and everytime I lie, because i simply had enough..

So, i don't think you need our answers, if you are a meat-eater, we won't ask you why, as people do that to me everay single fu.ckin' day.. And..would it change something to you if ppl told you they don't eta meat cause they are animalists or they are allergics or don't like meat's flavour..

You know, nobody reallay cares..that's what I found out in 7 years of bein vegetarian..

  22. to feel better about yourself..to improve your health and to actually do something for what you believe in..Im 16 and have only been one for 6 months but i have felt better about myself ever since..

  23. What's the point of harassing people about their diets?  I see a lot more meat eaters mocking vegetarians than the other way around, so I really don't think it's valid to say that all vegetarians are up their own asses.  It doesn't hurt you for other people to abstain from eating meat, so why does it matter why they do it?  Everyone has their own reasons for their diet, and it's irrelevant whether or not you find them valid.  No one should have to defend what they choose to eat or not eat.

  24. Health benefits, and to save the animals.

We humans have a choice whether or not we want to eat animals, we have a huge variety and selection. So we dont HAVE to eat meat.

other animals may have to eat smaller animals, because they have no choice, that is their lifecycle.

So do a little research before you post rude comments.

  25. There are reasons other than animal rights. What about the environment and most of all HEALTH! Being a vegetarian/vegan will put years on one's life.
