Some cars go past 200mph. There is a lot of rich people and 500,000 dollar cars that have tremendous horsepower. If you drive just 10 above the speed limit on the road, you get a ticket. Whats the point of having a very fast car if there is speed limits everywhere?

  1. Quite simply, new car buyers are demanding more in the way of performance and individuality, and the whole sports image thing works in everything from a hot hatch to a million-dollar supercar.

The reality, according to the makers, is that most performance cars never realise their potential, although owners take pride in what they're capable of.

It seems image is everything and bragging rights hold great weight.

  2. thers no point its just 2 seem kool

  3. the point is that there is someone out there with the bucks to buy them. The speed limit has nothing to do with the horsepower of the car............

  4. Like the cops would catch you....... If you have to ask a retarded question like that you would never understand the answer. Its called adrenalin some choose drugs some jump from perfectly good airplanes, some fight, compete whatever.

Obviously you and some of the other knuckleheads on here don't and will probably ever get it. Alot of those cars I'm sure are being sold to rich c0cksuckers that just need to feel cool by having that type of car and will probably hardly ever drive it too.

  5. the extra power is useful when driving in the mountains or passing. you can also go to a racetrack and drive a car for a small fee. a lot of motorcycles will beat those expensive cars at 10% or less of the price.

  6. You have answered your own question. There is no point.

But from the answers I've seen the manufacturers will always have a huge market of brain dead temporary motorists

  7. speed limitsd and all other rules society makes up are mean't to be broken so if u have a very fast vehicle let her off the chain and give it all she's got  make that c ar reach it's full speed

  8. Some people take their cars to the track to see just how fast they can go.  You might want to check around and see if there is a track in your area.

  9. I have read all the answers so far and not many go to a track and see what their car will do.  They do it on a straight road and hope they font get caught.  I have always wondered the same thing.  Therefore I am right with you.  Are the car companys just wanting us to break the law?  Something to think about.  Just goes to show ya some people think alike and some think outside the law.

  10. Your car has a powerful enough engine to go, say 105, 120mph maybe.

It goes 60 at 1,100 RPM, and 70 at 1,200 RPM -- basically, even when you drive fast as you legally can, the engine is loafing.

So, you get 18, 20, 25 or whatever miles per gallon.  You get the oil changed every 3,000 to 5,000 miles.  You go 75,000 before your first tune-up.  Your engine lasts 250,000 miles easily.

If you built a car that would go no faster than, say 70mph, you would be driving at 4,000 RPM most of the time.   You would get about 8 miles per gallon.  You'd need 4 tune-ups a year.  Oil changes every 1,000 miles.  At 60,000 miles you'd need a new engine.

The numbers I used above are mostly guesses, but conceptually, that's the answer to your question.
