You know that ball that is attached on the top of something. You hit it with your arms swinging in circles.

What's the point of that? I don't see any boxing moves that are hit like that. How does that exercise apply to boxing?

  1. that trains you to be active with eye and hand coordination..try it yourself.. it is not as easy as it looks..you have to be use to it.. plus, it exercises your muscles..

  2. My boxing teachers always said not to bother with speed bags. You are right that they have absolutely no application to actual boxing.

Most trainers just use double end  and heavy bags.

    Cheers,

  3. I cannot recall seeing anyone hit it by moving their arms in circles.

Obviously hitting the target also improves aim.

  4. Speed bag builds speed and hand eye coordination. My trainer felt it was useless, but i bought one for my house and practiced on it. It allowed my to throw my punches a little faster. I feel it helps its all up to you. Practice hard on it. it aint easy.

  5. lol that ball is called a speed bag and the name explains its purpose. Its for working on hand speed

  6. Its called a speed bag it works your hand speed, hand-eye coordination, and focus. All of these are vital to a boxer, even if you can't kick someones *** with that motion.
