  1. If Harry was killed Iraq or worse beheaded on Arab TV, World War 3 would break out. The political ramifications of him being hurt or killed are just too great a risk to the Western World.

  2. The point is that the royal family has always been in the military. As for sending someone so close to the throne as Prince Harry,it would be a monumental mistake,he would put everyone near him in danger, that would be hundreds of people. What a coup it would be for any terrorist group to get their hands on him.Sending him to Iraq should never have been thought of in the first place,it was a terrible mistake. This is a very different war to the Falklands, when his Uncle, the Duke of York was a helicopter pilot. The terrorists in Iraq kill any prisoners they get.I think the burning bodies of the American soldiers being dragged around the city, would have been enough of a lesson for the idea of sending Harry there,to have never come up.

  3. does sound crazy

  4. yep! I'd like to see a royal get it! Andy's the only one to really see action.

  5. Harry wanted to go - the latest rumour is he'll be sent to Afghanistan instead.

William trains as a soldier as future head of the Armed services (like his father trained). He will also train with the RAF and Navy. It was never thought that he'd see active service - his grandmother has the final say over heirs to the throne and she unlikely to agree to him seeing active service. The last monarch to see active service before he inherited the throne was George VI as it was never envisaged at the time that he'd be King.

  6. I think that you have a point. If they want to be in the military they should have jobs that have nothing to do with the front lines but really what other jobs besides the military can they get?

  7. Harry has stated that he is more than willing to fight in Iraq and anywhere else for that matter.

It is the powers-that-be that have stopped Harry seeing action, due to security concerns not just for him, but for the other soldiers in his regiment.

  8. They should give them a job as binmen

  9. They can't help it if they were born into royalty. They need the discipline & knowledge of military life.Plus remember they have a part of their Mother in them. They'll do something good with their lives.I believe they would have put their guy's under their command in grave danger. You'll see.

  10. There is no good reason for keeping the Princes out of the war because they are in line for the throne. There is always another heir next in line. The men, fairly and honourably, want to do their duty alongside their mates. So let them. They'd be taking their places in a long line. To go no further back than the Hanoverians, the origin of today's Royal Family:

1.....George II, when already king, fought in person at Dettingen, commanding the British army.

2.....The Duke of Clarence (the King's son, and brother to the eventual George IV) served in the RN during the Napoleonic wars, working his way up from midshipman to captain. He fought in many battles before finally retiring.

3.....George V (when a prince) served in the RN for 15 years. There was no major war in this period, but he was involved in various small actions.

4.....George VI (as Prince Albert) served in the Navy and in the air (not sure whether Fleet Air Arm, RFC or RAF) for a total of 10 years, and fought as a midshipman at the battle of Jutland.

5.....Edward VIII (as a prince) served on the Staff (typical of him; unlike his brother he stayed out of the front line) in the 1WW.

6.....The present Queen served in the army in the 2WW but of course did not fight.

7.....Prince Andrew fought in the Falklands campaign.

There may be others I don't know about. But enough said. If the Princes want to fight and take the risks of death, injury and capture alongside their men, it's only right to let them do it. Tradition as well as reason point that way.

  11. if what they get from religion isfight and die what can any do?

  12. I understand (though don't agree) with the reasons why the little Princes will not be sent anywhere dangerous but this does make it a waste of time training them as soldiers. If they are not to be allowed to do the job they should resign and get a job they will be allowed to do properly.

  13. You really need to open your eyes.

Harry is in the Army, there's a very high risk of him not being killed, but being captured and used as leverage.  In the nicest possible way, do you really think they would let Harry get beheaded?  No.

You may as well give them a ruddy great gun and point it at the UK.

Andrew was different as he is a pilot, not a ground serviceman, the odds of him being captured are small (not many people escape helicopters on fire).
