  1. the weight of a 1ft square column of water 1500ft high + airpressure at 15lbs/sq in which is about 0.1 lb/sq ft

    Sorry I don't do old fashioned non-metric measurements.

  2. 700 psi

  3. 1500*62.4 = 93600 lb/ft²

    2116 lb/ft² (handbook value)

  4. The density of sea water is 64.1 lbs/cu ft      so ;

    64.1 lbs/ft^3* 1500 ft  =  96150 lbs/ft^2

    Now we add the atmospheric pressure at sea level (which is

    2116.8 lbs/ft*2 , rounded to 4 sig figs = 2117)

    96150 lbs/ft^2 + 2,117 lbs /ft^2 = 98267 lbs/ft^2

    Steve looks to have the answer for the case of fresh water.

  5. In my reference book, sea water weighs 64.3 lb/ft^3, so I got 96450 lbs/ft^2, or 669.79 psi.
