Whats the proper way to take care of children ages 1-4?

i've never worked with kids before so whats the proper way to handle them? any tips please?

That's a VERY broad question.  Perhaps you should post a more specific question.  Food? Discipline? Potty training?

One thing though, I always try to talk to my kids like they are little adults (rather than using a baby voice).

You'll find that they enjoy learning how to do self-help things like washing hands with soap and drying on a towel.  This one activity will occupy a 2-3 yo for at least 30 minutes.  Over and over again.
