  1. The requirements are as follows:- you can apply for Visa Sub class 300 which is known as Prospective Marriage Visa. Your partner must be an Australian Citizen, Australian Resident or eligible New Zealand citizen. Once married, you can then apply for Permanent Residency but NOT prior to the marriage.

  2. The requirements are very strict and are intended to ensure that the relationship and marriage are genuine and not contrived solely for the purpose of gaining entry to Australia.

All of the information you require is accessible from this page of our immigration website:

    http://www.immi.gov.au/migrants/partners...

Check out each of the sub menu headings (1 to 5 across the page).

Pay particular attention to the Evidence of a Genuine and Continuing Relationship in section 3:

    http://www.immi.gov.au/migrants/partners...

  3. Ask the right people, ie Department of Immigration, not an open forum.  Go to www.immi.gov.au and do the research.

If you're some ancient loner who's been charmed by an Internet attraction after a couple of emails, forget it.  The interview procedure is (I'm told) far too rigorous for those circumstances to qualify for a permanent visa.  Apparently they will be quite intrusive of all your correspondence etc to establish that you have a viable (non Internet-based) relationship and that you're not just trying to get a girl into the country so you can live your fantasy, or hers.
