By far the largest economy in Africa is south Africa. It's much larger than Nigeria or Egypt.

If you mean by "richest" in terms of wealth per person, that depends on the Metric.  Equatorial Guinea on the mainland and the island countries of Seychelles and Mauritius are the wealthiest on a per person basis.

Depending on the metric sometimes Equatorial Guinea is the wealthiest, sometime it is the Seychelles.
