  1. It all depends on the colt ,,

Like is he study  and you can't handle him ? if so yes "

Is he quiet and still growing and a late starter? NO

Is he older like over 4 yrs ? if so they might have a problem with the cords some get real thick and you'll have to be very

    care in watching him after

I do not like cutting anything until they are over 2 yrs old !

But thats me, I have trained for over 30 yrs

I like a stud to get his neck and some of his body bigger before I do ,,""more matured ""

Some YES ,,I have had done earlier because they were very ready , Being way to tough to handle they matured early  and would not behave ,,

I do not believe in 6-7-8 months at all !!

All baby's are going to act tough & want to nip and do things But thats part of them growing up ,, but handled right ,, they will behave ,,

So its really up to you and Your horse , and where you keep him

If lots of kids around ! stallions should not be around them !

  2. I have a four year old horse and it is a gelding and you know if you don't want colts get the horse cut before the female is in heat. I mean at age one to two im pretty sure nothing will happen between a female and male horse but if you do see signs of effection between two horses and you are not wanting colts get the horse cut. Me personalily I wouldn't wait it just depends. Another thing is do you want to handle at a younger age where it won't be so strong if it does something crazy so it won't hurt you as bad. It just depends on your thoughts about it.

  3. ANY AGE

  4. I don't think there really is a "right age" to geld since a lot of owners prefer to delay making that decision with a young horse while evaluating it's stallion potential. And while you can geld at any age after both testicles are descended, I really believe that the ideal age is between 6 and 18 months old and I believe that the longer you wait beyond puberty the more ingrained inappropriate aggressive behaviors become.
