Whats the right skimboard?

i weigh about 160 lbs and im trying to find a skimboard at a reasonable price. i know i need a large board, and i was looking at the zap large wedge board, but on the website it said for riders under 140 lbs. i need some help!

  1. Well you first need to determine what the main use of the skimboard will be.  If you plan on riding waves then you will need a thick board which should be about 3/4 inches thick.  If you want to flatland skimboard then you'll want to have a skimboard that is 1/2 inches thick.  If you want more info on weight and stuff just go to your local surf shop and ask questions.


  2. even though the large wedge boards weight limit is a 140 lbs usually the actuall wieght limit is around 205 lbs. I have been making skimboards for years and they never have cracked because of a weight limit. If your still not covinced you can try any victoria board but it will cost more. You can also go with a zap egg board which can  withstand up to 212 lb limit and those boards are fun as h**l.
