Whats the rite age to get contact lences??

Question

i m a 15 y.o. boy and i m turning 16 in september... i have been wearing glasses from the past 7 years..

my eye power in the right eye is sphere -1.75, cylinder -50, axis 180 and left eye is sphere -2.50, cylinder -50, axis 180

when shud i get lences and kind of lences shud they be?

i heard my eye number will increase once i get lences....is tht true?

12 is the minimum age, so you can certianly get them anytime from now onwards.

The kind of lenses depends on personal choice, cost etc, but just as a guide, mine are soft contact lens, but I am -2.75 in  both eyes. I don't think have two different powers will make a difference, as long as you put the contact for you left eye in the left container and vica versa.

Not sure what you mean by eye number, sorry.

There is no age requirement for contact lenses, but you must be responsible and mature enough to take care of them.  Bring it up with your optometrist next time you have an eye exam, or schedule an exam sooner if you'd like.  

It's true that your doctor will be the best judge as to what kinds of lenses you should get.  There are a lot of options and he or she will know what is best for your eye and your comfort.  

Contacts (or glasses) don't make your vision worse, they simply focus images on your retina where they should be.  It is likely that your vision will change as you grow and then stabilize in your late teens or early twenties.  This is how myopia (nearsightedness) usually progresses.

im sure u can get them now cause i started wearing contact lens at around your age.

what kind of lenses? ask the optometrist for this because there are different types and not everyone will feel the same way. everyone is saying oasys is really good but it didn't work out for me...so let the optometrist choose what he/she thinks its best!
