Usually the 1st hour is cocktail hour - the guests mingle while you have your pictures taken.

This is how most receptions are usually done:

-Cocktail Hour

-Bridal Party Introduction

-Bride & Groom Introduction

-Salads Served

-Toasts by Best Man and Maid of Honor

-Dinner Served

-First Dance

-Father/Daughter dance

-Mother/Son Dance

-Bridal Party Dance

-Invite all guests on dance floor

-About 1 - 11/2 hours after that you cut the cake

-Cake Served

-1/2 hr to 45 min. after cake served bouquet/garter toss

-Dance some more

-Last song of the evening...
