  1. There is a 12 year cycle in chinese culture. every 8th year, it is the year of the dragon, the dragon represents health, beauty and luck. It is the most important year in chinese culture. Families try to have children on the year of the dragon, just because it is considered good luck.

I learned this in my sociology class. In chinese culture the number 8 means good luck. And anything with an 8 is good luck. Chinese people would buy houses with the number 8 in it, phone numbers. etc etc. It is just superstition.

    I hope this helps

  2. 8 is a lucky number in Chinese folklore.  so 08/08/08 is an  extremely lucky day to be married or born according to the Chinese.

  3. It's a Chinese superstition. The sound of 8 in some Chinese dialect is similar to the sound of words like prosper and happiness.

  4. If you turn the figure 8 horizontally it shows the sign of infinity. So getting married on 8/8/08 would not only be good luck, but the couples would also think that they'll stay together for infinity. 8/8/08 also symbolizes prosperity for the Chinese culture and profit for businesses.
