Whats the situation in rwanda currently after genocide?

as in after the 94 genocide between hutu and tutsi. whats been going on there and have the people been getting along?

  1. Rwanda is trying to move towards stability but it is difficult. There are a still a large number of Hutu refugees outside the country, or internally displaced (the Hutus who were incited to perform the massacres; they fear retaliation) and there are still some extremist groups in operation causing trouble. Rwanda has been regularly intervening in the civil wars in Congo (formerly Zaire) and this has been a large distraction in the way of finding real peace.

    On the positive side, a few organizers of the massacres have been put on trial. There have been mostly-fair elections. There are reconciliation groups out there trying to connect individual killers with the victims' families so forgiveness can take place but the task is immense.
