  1. 1$/hour and all the pasta and salad you can eat.

  2. $2.13 an hour.  It may be a little more or less depending on where you live, but this is pretty standard.  Nearly all of this gets taken out by taxes when you get your paycheck.  SO! You depend on tips that customers leave you, which means you can end up making some good money serving.  Olive Garden gets BUSY BUSY BUSY.  So here's a scenario: you're working on a Friday night and you have a 3 table section, 2 of your tables are 4-tops and the other is a 6-top  (pretty standard).  You come on at 4:00 and get cut at 9:00 (again, pretty standard).  In those 5 hours, each 4-top gets sat 5 times and the 6-top 4 times.  Say the average 4-top's bill is $50 and the average 6-top bill is $70.  So your sales for the night would be roughly $780.  Say that tipping this Friday was average (15%).  You would earn $117 in tips.  Now you have to tip out the busser, the bar, and either the hosts or the expo 1% of your sales each.  This means you walk out of work with $83 in cash.  Say it takes you 40 min to do your sidework once you get cut.  So you're on the clock for 5:40, which works out to $12.06.  Add the two totals together and divide by your hours worked and your rough estimate hourly wage would be $16.78.  Not too shabby!  But I'm gonna warn you it's hard work!  Go for it though!

  3. In CA it's the minimum wage which was 5.85 an hour back in the late 90's.  Now I live in the south and have worked for Red Lobster which is also owned by Darden Restaraunts along with Olive Garden and the min in 2. something--this is really crummy when they want you to do dirty work like polish all the wood surfaces in the place for a few hours a day when there is no customers in the store--but you can make good tips on the weekends so we hung in there.
