Whats the term for a person who slows down on the freeway to look at the accident?

It's called rubber necking,I sure hope that  everyone else it'nt saying that they don't do the same thing because everyone wants to know what as happen or if someone got killed .

Rubberneckers and gawkers are good descriptions. I have a couple of other ones, but they can't be printed here.

All it takes is one or two to set off a chain reaction and a mile-long backup. And for what? Just to satisfy their curiosity. Rather stupid, but people have always done it and always will.

A few aren't even satisfied with that. I once saw a group of people who had parked their pickup in the median and set up lawn chairs to stare at an accident scene.

And rubbernecking is not limited to accidents. People will slow to check out someone changing a tire or a vehicle with its hood up - just about anything on the side of the road is fair game.

Not much anyone can do about it, so I'm afraid we're stuck with it.

Person who cranes, stains or otherwise awkwardly turns their head and stares while passing the scene of something interesting (usually morbid in nature).

This is usually seen and performed while driving past the scene of an accident, or any other incident where there are police, firemen or ambulances with lots of flashing lights.
