Whats the thing with laundry detergent?

Why is it that everytime they come out with a new laundry detergent, they never claim to do anything new that their last detergent didn't claim itself?

For example:

Brand new Tide Ultra, gets outs these tough stains that regular tide couldn't!

Brand new Tide Ultra 2X, gets out these tough stains that Tide Ultra couldn't!

Brand New Tide Ultra 2X With Dawn! Gets rid of tough stains that poor ol' Tide Ultra 2X couldn't!

Are we really such consumer whores?

The thing there is that a new product may get rid of new stains, say a type of stain the old product didn't, but at the same time, it may also not do as much. The problem is you have to take the time to read the stinking label!

You know as well as I do that New sells, regardless of what they add to it or don't.  All they have to do is change the packaging and their sales go up.

Well do you wash your clothes with soda ash or borax ?? Besides Tide is to expensive.
