  1. The value could range from $500 to a few thousand dollars. Establishing value on these M1911A1's can be difficult without checking over the piece in person. Value is a function of condition, originality, and rarity and can be a little subjective. M1911A1's with their USP markings removed, pistols with mismatched parts, refinished, or heavily damaged / pitted pieces are generally not considered collectable. Unmolested M1911A1's in very good or better condition are what bring the most money as these are sought at by collectors.  Most 1943 Ithaca's I see brought to me are worth around $750 - $1,000. If your pistol is correct and in very good condition I would recommend against shooting or modifying it. The pistol will only be original once, and a $2,000 collector piece can be more than halved in value in one milisecond by a cracked slide. Collectable pieces are best carefully cleaned, gently waxed (oil is temporary and attracts dust and dirt), and stored in a cool, dark enviornment with 45% relative humidity +/- 5%.

    Respectfully,
    A 1911 / K98 Mauser collector.
