  1. August weather nice 70to 80. Bring a jacket incase. HINTS;

    Do not buy souveniers on ship. Example T-Shirt on ship$15.00 in Port $5.00 see Alaska Shirt.com. If taking whale watching only take ones that are guaranteed that way if you do not see a whale you get most of your money back. If you do not want to get all dressed up try buffet-excellent food. In Ketchikan go to Salmon Mall at end of peir-many stores on 2 levels & great prices. Just use common sense. ENJOY.

  2. We went at the end of May and they closed the upper walkway/jogging path of the ship due to high winds, it was generally cold and rainy (think about 10-15 degrees cooler than Seattle).  In August it should be better but certainly nothing like a Caribbean cruise or anything.  Hard to imagine sun-bathing.  Bring sweaters, a jacket, etc.

    The tours were okay (we did a rainforest hike in Juneau and a train tour in Skagway) but honestly the most memorable part of our trip was sitting in the hot tub (not on the main deck, in the adults-only spa) looking out the picture windows at glaciers.  THAT was cool.

  3. Was in Anchorage last two weeks in August it was beautiful. About 75 during the day and 45 at night. On the water it will be chilly so dress appropriately sweater, jacket, maybe a hat if you like. Weather can change quickly so be prepared for anything.

    Most of all enjoy yourself it a gorgeous place. Just outside the airport going into Anchorage we seen several moose, so take lots of pictures
