well sometimes its between a father and a daughter to stay tru to them. but in realtionship wise it means to be together and to trust one another. i have one from my boyfriend so that way we will stay tru together and not cheat on one another.

Well, I never really saw the purpose of them, but to answer your question it is a commitment ring for a couple who are not ready to be engaged, but want to show a certain level of commitment.  In my opinion, be as committed as you want, and then if you're ready to be married, get engaged! :)

Ex:

A promise from you to God to wait till marriage to have s*x...

A promise from your boyfriend to you, that you are the only one he loves, and when you are both ready, he'll propose.
