Whats the worse and best aspects of eating out in Ireland [outside of Dublin]?

The worst aspects tend to be the prices that some restaurants charge.  You decide on a steak and then discover that mushrooms, onions and chips are all extras at €4 or €5 each.  But most restaurants I've been in have excellent menus, food and staff and it is a pleasure to eat out in Ireland.

the best about eating outside of dublin is the food tastes great and so much choice all over the rest of ireland.

and its going to be alot fresher, the closer to the country side  you get.

the fact your eating outside of dublin is a bonus in its self.

there is no bad aspects about eating outside of dublin.

cork is well known for its many fine restruants and eateries.

I find that many places don't know how to do a good salad, they just do a couple of lettuce leaves, slices of tomato and cucumber, a splodge of plastic-flavoured coleslaw and mabe some grated carrot ... the best eaterie in Limerick city was Java on Catherine Street, it was closed down and the building demolished last February, and they did nice salads, and very interesting soups. It was also the only place in the South West of Ireland that did decent coffee, all the rest is muck in comparison.

I find the nicer places to eat are usually not very well known outside of the area. There´s a place in Rathkeale in County Limerick that does delicious dinners, it's a wine bar also, and not even many locals know about it .... I only heard about it through others and foreigners have occasionally stumbled on it but then can't find it again :-). It's not that expensive for what you get, substantial portions of beautifully cooked and presented dishes.
