Beyond being cold and alone and having your body ripped apart and compressed to a drop of sand, a time distortion effect occurs which makes it appear as though you are in that spot for a near infinite amount of time (even though to the outside world perceives the event as only taking a second).

I believe that's the worst way to go, I have not come across anything worse yet.

In the end, unless you are in a certain types of a coma, its all going to hurt.
