Whats this called? Is there something the matter with me?

Alright, well.

Im scared to date.

This one popular guy at school asked me out, and I said yes. He then told me it was a joke and he didnt mean it.

Now, Im scared to date. I doubt myself at everything and when people ask me out, I guess I believe they are just joking. I dont get why someone would like me! Im not pretty, Im not thin, and blah, blah, blah. I could name tons more.

Well, I regect every guy, unless its someone I REALLY know. Like, I have talked to them forever and trust them.

Does this phobia thing have a name, or is it just a phobia thing? Is there something mentally wrong with me?

i'd say you've got Low Self Esteem. the jack*ss that asked you out and said it was a joke just made it worse

try to get it into your head that this guy was a jerk with a crummy sense of humor. try to take people for what they say (as in asking you out) and not make THEM pay for what that OTHER guy did

No it's not really a phobia I'd say it's just low self-esteem. It used to plague me and still does on some occasions. Just try to focus on all the great qualities and traits you have. Keep a list if that helps and when you feel low go over the list and it will bring you back up. Eventually you will find the right person who loves you for you.

This sounds kinda mean (and i'm not trying to offend anyone just offering it as a suggestion to help) but when I'm really down on myself and think nobody will date me I think of the fattest, meanest, ugliest girl who has a man and it makes me feel like a gem waiting to be treasured. I know i know it's mean. But hey, it works.
