whats the part on rear of boat where steering cables goes thru its round and its like a sleeve to stop cables rubbing on fiberglass

  4. Do you mean like a rubber bung with a hole through the middle for the cables?  That's a grommet.

  7. it is not a groment, a groment,  it sort of flat, maybe round edges you are talking about a steering cable boot.

  8. Its called a Fairlead.

  9. The lining to the hole through the hull has several names depending on where you live and sail including boot and grommet. Not a fairlead which is for sail or mooring ropes and is often open on the top to allow the rope to be lifted in and out.
