Whats to see from Cali to N.C family road trip?

wonder if anyone can give me some good "must see" places while on our long drive. We have 4 kids ranging from elem-high school. We'll be taking I-40. Thanks

On the border of Arizona right before you get into New Mexico is a really amazing Native American dwelling place that's ancient and still inhabited. It's called the Acoma Pueblo and it's off of I-40 a few miles, but definitely a must see. Make sure to pay the money and go to the actual pueblo (they don't let non-inhabitants drive through it, you have to take a bus). It's been on the top of this mesa for ages and it's pretty incredible.

Once you get to NC the interstate goes very near the Cherokee reservation which is also pretty neat (avoid "Unto the Hills", their attempt at Broadway, at all costs), but definitely check out the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Nashville is a must stop. It is a very safe family atmosphere. I would google Nashville to find something your family would like there. It is a must stop!!
