Whats tools or advice can anyone offer on how to point a sattelite dish?

then after i get the cordinates what do i use.

  1. Use a compass to get the horizontal direction, or look on the Internet for a list of sun positions at various times of day in your location to figure out the line to the satellite.

    Some satellite mounts have the elevation (vertical direction) marked on them. If not, you can use a protractor to estimate the vertical line. Then it's a matter of lots of patience to find the bird. You have to sweep very slowly, moving the dish only a tiny bit at a time.


  2. satelite dish must have a clear shot at the southern sky.

  3. on the receiver there should be a red light   it will blink when your close and light steady when real close. Also have some on looking at the TV at the signal strength. Most system have a setup menu and when you enter the zip code it will tell you what direction to point the dish and at what elevation.
