didnt go far in either them and let up 9 runs in one and 5 runs in the other. What do we expect in his next starts, a rebound or another rough start

  1. He seems to always have a bad August.  It's nothing to really worry about.  He will find his groove again and continue to pitch in the dominating fashion that he's been all year long.  I'd rather see him do it now rather then in the playoffs.

  2. Ugh, and he's on my fantasy team too. All 4 teams.. -,-

  3. he's come back down to earth, he's now in the real world.

  4. Gotta see a strong start coming sometime...thought he would've rebounded on the last start.  Its nice to have such a good 4 man rotation to where the Cubs arent relying on him as the ace.

  5. he will be fine

  6. He's not focused I think.

  7. It happens to all pitchers during a long season, including Josh Beckett last night.  Nothing to worry about and he should bounce back in the upcoming games.

  8. This has always been his "Bad" month. Look up all of his August starts in his career. They are totally below average.

I know that he will be glad when this month is over.

  9. yea ik

he isnt throughing his best stuff

  10. Doesn't bother me (see my avatar).

  11. I think he just can't stay focused when he walks a lot of guys and when the other team has a pretty good lead on them.Which I guess makes sense but I don't think I've really seen a pitcher like him,who can put on dominate performances at times, lose their focus so quickly.

  12. It looks like he's got a "tired arm."  If not, he might be fighting an injury.

Watch him throw...almost everything is coming from an almost side-arm slot, like he's trying to "sling" the ball into the zone.  Now Z would do this from time to time to "mix things up" with two strikes...but not on every throw.

Z is a power pitcher.  To have power you have to come over the top.  Besides the pure power-factor, when you come over the top the ball has a biting, sinking path that makes it difficult for the hitter to elevate.  Throwing side-arm flattens out the ball's path so the batter's eye only has to track it on one plane.

Hopefully, it's just a tired arm....but if he comes out side-arming in his next start...be very worried...
