  1. I think it is because there is something wrong with our gravity.

  2. The USGS estimates that several million earthquakes occur in the world each year. Many go undetected because they hit remote areas or have very small magnitudes. The NEIC now locates about 50 earthquakes each day, or about 20,000 a year.

As more and more seismographs are installed in the world, more earthquakes can be and have been located. However, the number of large earthquakes (magnitude 6.0 and greater) have stayed relatively constant.

Are Earthquakes Really on the Increase?

We continue to be asked by many people throughout the world if earthquakes are on the increase. Although it may seem that we are having more earthquakes, earthquakes of magnitude 7.0 or greater have remained fairly constant.

A partial explanation may lie in the fact that in the last twenty years, we have definitely had an increase in the number of earthquakes we have been able to locate each year. This is because of the tremendous increase in the number of seismograph stations in the world and the many improvements in global communications. In 1931, there were about 350 stations operating in the world; today, there are more than 8,000 stations and the data now comes in rapidly from these stations by electronic mail, internet and satellite. This increase in the number of stations and the more timely receipt of data has allowed us and other seismological centers to locate earthquakes more rapidly and to locate many small earthquakes which were undetected in earlier years. The NEIC now locates about 20,000 earthquakes each year or approximately 50 per day. Also, because of the improvements in communications and the increased interest in the environment and natural disasters, the public now learns about more earthquakes.

According to long-term records (since about 1900), we expect about 17 major earthquakes (7.0 - 7.9) and one great earthquake (8.0 or above) in any given year.

In summary, this means that the number of earthquakes hasn't been increasing, but our ability to detect them has been, along with immediate worldwide reporting of them.

  3. I'm glad you asked this, I was wondering the same thing. Perhaps they're building up to a larger geological event?

edit: I just noticed that if you look at a world map the locations are pretty evenly spaced around the globe.

  4. Resonance frequency.  Hit something with electrons with a pulse and it causes vibration.  Everything has a resonance frequency, a point at which the atoms actually start to vibrate apart.  With a 555 timer and a certain circuit, you can adjust the resonance frequency you put out.  (the earth has a resonance frequency)  Project Bluebeam.  No proof, just a hunch, the psyops warfare it discusses is possible.  But it is possible to make an earthquake, this knowledge has been around for about 80 years, maybe longer.

Your microwave resonates water molecules to heat your food.

The earth also has a heartbeat, or an electronic pulse.  They have been tracking it for a long time now.  Recently it started speeding up.  Also the earth is slowing in rotation, since space is a vacuum, it would be safe to say that if the rotation is slowing down, the shape of the molecule in the vacuum will try to be a more perfect sphere.  Hense crust motion and change which in turn = earth quakes.  This year they added a second onto the world clock.  They called it a leap second.  Every so many years the earth slows in rotation one second.  This year was one of those years.  Could be a number of things.

Magnetic fields around the earth are also disapating at the moment, which is what is causing the holes in the ozone layer.  The magnetic field is what shelters the suns radiation from the surface.  This is happening at a cycle in the sun that is supposed to be cooling off.  But instead it is getting hotter, less shelter, worse storms.  Plus the extra heating of the crust could cause expansion, which would in turn create earthquakes.

  5. Good question, i'd like to know that

  6. the great land mass are starting to come together again. the earth is shifting and getting ready to do a magnetic flip, this will cause a lot off upheaval as the magnetic flips time grows closer

  7. There is a lot of energy stored up in the earths crust which is released by earthquakes.  One earthquake can weaken a fault line in another area causing another earthquake.  This is always happening and is no more frequent now than it has been in the past.  The difference is that communications are better, and now we know when they are happening around the world.

  8. We can not say it is up. Now we are closely watching the situations. The real reason for increasing in earthquake activities are not known. We are not yet found the real reason and prediction method for earthquakes. That is why I am concentrating on early warning systems. That has helped me to issue the warning 2 hours before Tsunami struck our coast. But my life saving inventions are not getting due merit from the meteorological departments.
