Whats up with alpine I'm having nothing but problems?

I have two alpine type X 12' each powered by an alpine 1.1000 PDX and it is week why ? do i need more power? and also i blew up 2 type 12 already and they were installed by professionals what's wrong is it just bad luck or what i need tips

  1. You could be running them in a box that is the wrong internal volume.  Type X's in the correct ported box will easily do 134dB without any dB gain from loading.

    If you are running a pair PDX 1000 amps, you're power is fine, but there could be an issue with the way the gain is set.  Most install shops don't know how to properly tune a system, so they will most likely have the gain a little high, which can cause distortion at high volumes, and eventually will cause a sub to blow.

    If you are wanting more volume, try stepping up to the 15' subs, or go with another set of 12's.


  2. Try disconnecting ONE of the two subwoofers.  Is the sound louder with a single subwoofer than with two subs?

    If so, re-connect the subwoofer, but switch the (+) and (-) connections at the amp.
