Question:

Whats up with artists performing before Obama's speech last night?

Will.i.am (from Black Eye Peas) and Sheryl Crow performed before Obama's Speech yesterday at the Democratic National Convention. It was like a freakin' concert, was that truly necessary? Who pays for this concerts: tax payers or out of obama's funds? I would rather hear Obama speech up and straight forward than hear poor Stevie Wonder to whine away for 7 minutes about change! My vote can swing either way, but all the celebrity propoganda selling obama to voters was over the top. What do you think?

  1. Those kinds of events usually have entertainment preceeding the concentration of the event...its pretty common to say the least. And besides that whole event was about 6 hours long...people would go crazy if there wasn't anything else to do but listen to politics...I know I would.

  2. All they were missing were the Dixie Chicks.

  3. This is HILARIOUS.  Are you jealous because all the repubs could secure was Barry Manilow and Tom Jones?  What a party!  lol

It was so festive yesterday.  Change we can believe in!!!  Love Sheryl Crow, by the way!

  4. It's like a Madonna concert.....   her "musical talent" is so weak, there has to be dancing, fireworks, a platoon of "backup dancers".... to make up for the "star's" lack of talent.

Behold Obama.... Mr. NO experience.  WHAT ELSE could he do except put on a "show"?

  5. don't you know NObama is a superstar?  That is all the spin or hype about him - they have to portray him like that so you are looking at the performers and not his record.

He doesn't take a firm stand on anything and he is qualified to be the president of the USA why? how?  He isn't...

He's in touch with everyday Americans how?  How many everyday Americans can afford to go to TWO Ivy League schools? Harvard and Columbia?

NO MR NAbaMA THE PRESIDENCY OF THE UNITED STATES IS NOT AN AFFIRMATIVE ACTION JOB. That is how got into Harvard and Columbia....

There are many African Americans in the US that are qualified for this position but they don't want the spotlight or to put their families thru the ordeal. Instead the liberals put forward this charismatic person who can give a good speech and dodge issues very well on the fly and talk to you for hours without saying anything specific. You want "change" why did he pick a running mate who has been in the Senate longer than McCain?

Where is he getting all of his financial backing? Must be from overseas where clooney is doing his fund-raising for NObama, what about fund raising reforms for elections or regulations governing who can donate? They all don't seem to apply to his campaign....

The only change you get from NObama is what is left in your pocket after he takes your hard earned money and redistributes it to everyone else under the disguise of taxes that are needed.

NObama = massive tax increases to pay for his social programs where will the money come from >>> YOU!!!

  6. All the one's I WON'T be buying records from any more!

  7. Often the conventions are so boring that people don't watch in record numbers as this year.  Many of those who tune it in abandon it before the last night and many don't watch until the last night.  It was just a way to get more viewers and attendees. The Republicans will definitely try not to be out done.  Otherwise, opinions are like __ __ everyone has one.

  8. It's the Woodstock mentality.

  9. What's up with them?  Nothing.  They are Democrats and they wanted to help fire up the crowd for the speakers...

Are you trying to deflect because McCain's not much of a draw?

  10. Always need the choir before the sermon

Remember all we have to do is believe in him and we will be saved

If we vote against him we are doomed to h**l

or did I confuse him with someone else ?

  11. If Hollywood celebrities are endorsing a candidate, that is a sure sign to not vote for that candidate.  Celebrities are completely out of touch with average Americans and overwhelmingly support the democratic party, yet the democrats say they are the best choice for us regular folks.  It does not make sense that the so called "party for the common man" is supported and funded by the Hollywood elite.  By the way, that was our tax dollars funding that disgusting show of excess last night.  Can I get a refund?

  12. I don't think they did it for pay. The Republicans will have celebrities also at their convention....

  13. political parties pay for their own conventions, the gop will do the same

i think that bush is a liar and a terrorist and only an idiot would support him or mclaine

  14. So i'm guessing that at the GOP convention when Country Music bands play that will just be ok.

  15. Obama always has a free concert prior to speaking.  It guarantees a large crowd and the show usually whips the crowd up..

  16. The stadium was filling up with tens of thousands of people hours before Obama's speech, the main event.  It was reasonable to expect that something other than the speech would be provided beforehand.

  17. He only had like 20,000 delegates.  How else was he going to fill a stadium?

  18. I say keep the Hollyweird and music industry morons out of it.  It actually hurts a candidate when they endorse him.

  19. The Obama campaign and the Democratic Party pay for it, not the taxpayers.  Stevie Wonder whining?  That's just silly; he was excellent.  Obama had a big crowd there of about 80,000, so what do you think they are gonna do, have them all sit in silence when they had been lining up to attend the event for hours?  Get real.

They provided entertainment and were musical performers and they hardly spoke, they mostly just played music, so your statement that there was celeb propaganda selling Obama is also kinda out there.

  20. i was still cheering for sheryl crow during obama's speech

  21. they wanted to show that Obama is the "rockstar" canidate that he is by spending all that money on stupid sh*t.

  22. It was real funny when the black eyed peas were asked by fox news which Obama policy they liked the most.... They didn't know one...

I laughed for a few minutes on that one...

  23. I think that it's part of the hoopla that the political nomination process generates in order to get people of their lazy butts.

People are apathetic by nature and many need incentive to get involved with the political process.

Celebrities often volunteer when supporting candidates, but if payment is required, are paid by the campaign.

  24. Why obsess over the entertainment?  Ignore it and focus on the issues if you dislike it.  I don't imagine anyone forced you to watch it.

And I'm sure the republicans will have their fair share of entertainers.

By the way, the cons are the ones with celebrities in office.  So spare me the celebrity c**p.  See California for details.

  25. I think its just part of the convention

    no more no less

It will MOST LIKELY happen at the GOP convention also
