  1. The unfamiliar smell from your clothes was something that repelled the cat. He peed on it 'normalize' it. Wash all you clothes and it probably won't happen.

  2. Probably. That's how some cats react to changes or stress.

  3. well how'd it get food ?

  4. Yes, cats DO have feelings and since they can't communicate their feelings to us with words, they find other ways (behaviors) to communicate.  It's quite possible that your cat was upset with you for leaving him for so long, but it's also a possibility that there's a health issue going on, since changes in pottying habits are one of the first signs of some health problems.  So I think a trip to the vet's office is in order, just to rule out any health issues.

The same kind of thing happened with one of my cats a few years ago (I was gone for only two weeks, though) and after getting a clean bill of health from the vet, the doctor told me that my kitty was "punishing" me and that the behavior would stop as soon as she felt that she'd adequately expressed her anger at me.  So, after a couple of days of peeing in unusual places, she started behaving normally again.  Hopefully, this is how it will work out for you, too.

  5. Cats like consistency, but they don't "hate", they don't have the same emotions that we do.  They don't "get even" either.

Cats can get stressed when changes occur.  When they get stressed, their immunity can become depressed.  Think about how kids get sick when you get really, really stressed, often you will get sick after.  You don't eat right, you are worried and your body is open to infection.

Cats can get urinary tract infections very easily when they stress.  They also can have them for a long time and show no symptoms until a stressful event occurs.  Cats that are feed poor quality diets build up crystals and other junk in their urinary tract, after years of eating it, they will may finally succumb to the pain when they potty and start missing the box.

Cats most often choose a soft spot to potty when they are in pain.  The litterbox is "hard", so soft might hurt less may be what they think.  Beds are a common choice.

Close the door to your bed.  Purchase a cat litter called Attract and mix in with your normal litter (it has a smell that attracts a cat to potty).  Make sure the box is kept clean, consider adding another box if possible.  You can also confine kitty to a small room for a week or so to monitor her habits and get her back into the habit of using the box.

  6. Why would you leave an animal for so long? Of course, it was lonely and missed you. It was just trying to let you know that. Yes, it was angry, I don't care what anyone says. Animals do have feelings. Years ago, I had a dog. I was dating this guy one time and he lived out of town so I used to spend the weekends with him. So the dog was alone all weekend. Of course, she had my two cats to keep her company, but she missed my company. So when I got home, as soon as I opened the door, she crapped right in front of me and also chewed the crotches out of the jeans that I left on the chair in my bedroom. Just give your cat alot of affection and attention to show him that you missed him. He'll get over it in time.

  7. He's mad. Cats hate change. The older they get, the worse their reaction............
