Whats up with the clown fear thing??

Question

i have never seen the movie "It" and i know that's pretty much where the whole fear of clowns came from, but was the movie really THAT scary?? Or do you think people are just saying they have a fear of clowns cuz that was the "in" thing at the time??

I have always been creeped out by clowns. I think that the fear of clowns in some people is because clowns are a caricature of humans. They sort of look like people but they have distorted and obscured their true face from the rest of the world. Many people have been wronged by others that "wore a mask" and were not who they appeared to be, so maybe the whole clown thing makes them a bit apprehensive.. are they a good witch or a bad witch??

as far as babies go, could be basically the same thing.. most of their development of how they "should" react to things is learned by watching the faces of those that are their whole world.. mommy, daddy, sister, brother.. when they see a clown they know it is supposed to be part of their world but the garish make up really confuses and scares them as they are not sure if this is the same type of "thing" as a mommy or a daddy.. that and clowns are loud and obnoxious *LOL* thanks for a though provoking question.

That isn't where the fear of clowns came from, it came from a serial killer who entertained for chilrens parties dressed as a clown. He ended up killing...i think 17 children and 20 adults, or round about there.

I personally think it is stupid, but then again I don't have a fear of clowns. However, the people that are afraid of that movie should not be insulted by saying they are afraid simply because it was "the 'in' thing at the time." This is a real fear for some people, granted there will always be those select few that imitate this fear to acquire attention, but for the vast majority, they are really afraid. Although this movie is more than likely not even remotely scary to you, you should know that there are people that have a real fear for clowns.
