  1. global warming does not mean all of earth gets hotter together.  it is gradual and awkward, b/c for instance, hotter temp by a few degrees at the north pole means glaciers melt.  but that water is still very cold.  as it warms, that heat gets transfered to the warmer water surrounding it, and air and lastly land (that one taking the longest).  this makes everything colder for a short time, leading to awkward climate changes like the one you mentioned.  the overall temp still raises, but not like a thermometer on a summer day.  its more fluxuating.  remember that large bodies of water take immense amounts of time to change temp.  thats why the beach (wherever you may be) water is soo cold in the summer and warm in the winter (even though this change is about 3-6 degrees at most)

  2. Henny is completely right. That's April weather as it's supposed to be. Every few years, there will be snow in mid-April. April is famous for quick weather changes, from warm and sunny to cold and rainy and even snow. Snow in April doesn't happen every year, but in no way is this an effect of climate change.

In the traditional catholic calendar, we have the so-called "Eisheiligen", the "ice saints", St Pancratius, Servatius, Bonifatius (hope I got the spelling right) whose name days are on 11th, 12th, 13th May. After that, an old country saying goes, you can be sure it won't be cold and snowy anymore, but before that, you must be prepared for everything.

So you see, there's nothing wrong with the weather. It's like it used to be for generations.

@Troublesome, you're right too, but I'm from Bavaria, in the south. No coast, no sea... -- just mountains.

  3. yes, this is a perfect  april-weather as its supposed to be.

"der April macht was er will" is a german phrase, means:     >april ist doing whatever it wants to do<

  4. Snow in April is something that happens from time to time. I remember that it also snowed on April 15th, about 25 years ago. It was kind of weird because that day was the beginning of the "summer semester". However, the increasing number of heavy storms/hurricanes and the increased medium annual temperature are signs of changing weather patterns - not only in Germany.

  5. From 1985 to 1989 I was stationed in Weisbaden. From 1992 to 1998 in Heidelberg.

One thing I noticed was that what ever weather the Midwest in the Staes was having, woulkd show up in that part of germany about 3 weeks later or less.

I think it had to do with the air currents, but it seemed to be true

  6. lol I lived in Hamburg and Vilseck Germany for a good 4 years and let me just tell u. The weather can be out of control! Dont rely on warm sunny weather for a while.. usually up and down ALOT until around july with my own experience.. Rained quite often too.
