  1. it could be a serial killer?!?!?

i live in Vancouver! its kinda scary

  2. As all the answers tend to suggest, there is no answer yet to the 5 feet that have been found.  A sixth foot turned out to be a hoax, it was an animals foot (apparently a dog's) that someone put in a sock and running shoe.  All of the feet have been found in running style shoes which are bouyant and tend to float so where they originally came from is hard to say.  All of the feet however appear to have separated through natural decay, not by being severed by man.  The current theories are:

They are from the victims of plane crashes/boat sinkings that have not been recovered.  As the bodies decay they fall apart and the shoes, being bouyant, float off with the remains of the foot in them.

They are victims of a serial killer who likes to throw parts of his victims in the water to see where they end up or as the bodies decay parts start to float away..

It is a person with a sick sense of humour and access to bodies such as a mortuary worker.

  3. 5 people walking in isolated places that got picked up by some sort of a murderer(s).

  4. Someone on one of the British newspaper sites said maybe it was the Russian track team getting ready for the 2010 Paralympics.

  5. Theres been 6 feet that have washed up, all wearing socks and runners. Most recently in Campbell river. There have been 5 right (mens) and 1 left (womens). Some people think that they have to be originating in BC waters, and are all traveling through either the Frasier or the strrait of Georgia. While others say that they could've come from miles away since feet encased in running shoes can stay afloat for a long distance.

  6. THERE IS A RUMOUR THEY COULD BE FROM A PLANE CRASH

  7. From what I understand, body parts do wash up on ocean beaches sometimes - maybe there's just a particular current there that sweeps stuff up and deposits it?

  8. there have been 5 ove the past year or so.  the most recent "foot" found in Campbell River just this week turned out to be a hoax.

  9. The Japanese mafia (yakuza) getting sloppy

  10. Good question and so far nobody has the answer.  The foot looks as if it has been cleanly severed and not torn as would be expected in a severe accident.  Who knows, this could be a message from a major crime faction telling competition to back off.

  11. Eww yeah I heard about that. From what I've heard someone is going around cutting off peoples feet and then throwing them into the ocean. But that's just my stupid friend's story... he probably made up that bit.

But the foot thing is wierd. There've been like 6.

  12. At the present time, no one really knows. The forensics people are investigating it. They did find the sixth foot was a hoax. And they are investigating that as well.

There have been boat accidents, plane accidents, missing persons etc. so it isn't inconceivable that some of the feet belong to those persons, but until they can do DNA matching to confirm, they just have to continue with their investigations. As there are over 3,000 missing persons in BC at the present time, that's a lot of DNA to check out

  13. One of the things about it that can give you some relief is that the feet were not severed by any humans. The bones end were clean and smooth, suggesting that they were not cut off by someone, but rather slowly eroded off.

It could theoretically be from anyone in the world who either fell into the ocean and drowned, or from an Indonesian killer (for example) who threw the body into the ocean in Indonesia and the body sank to the bottom, took its time in decaying to the point to where the foot detached from the rest of the body and then floated up here. The reason why we're seeing feet is because the shoe, which is fastened to the foot, is buoyant. So it's the only body part that is going to float away. The rest of the body is going to stay put on the ocean bottom.

Also the currents flow straight into the Straight of Georgia from the VAST Pacific Ocean. The area of southern Vancouver Island and the gulf islands are rather populated compared to most of the areas of the west coast in North America (aside from southern california). So they're going to be found much quicker here too. With thousands of missing peoples reports in Canada alone, not to mention the world, someone was bound to be thrown or have fallen overboard somewhere. It even could have been a drunk non-swimming person going to take a pee at the end off a pier somewhere, falling in and drowning to no ones knowledge - who knows. The possibilities are endless.

Also it's been thought that they could be from the victims of a plane crash in the area, although apparently the DNA from the feet do not match the DNA of the plane victims.
