they haven't even cornered the whole Aussie market let alone going global, and even if they do it won't necessarily make the game better-it will only take whats left of the SOUL out of the game and turn it into a money machine and a passionless sport -imagine watching a south African team agianst -say collingwood where's the meaning ??

  1. I agree totally!

    Lets keep it in 0zz!

  2. Good call Forky

    Its called Australian rules

I'm greedy and selfish, sorry to our international guests but I don't want to share. The AFL should sort out its international coverage like GFC barracker says so they can watch our game. If you want to watch it live come down under have a holiday you will find there is plenty more great things to do down under.

  3. Well, actually, that wouldn't be a bad game. What would be even better would be if the WCE's(pronounced wussies)had to play in South Africa, then they might find out what travel really means and stop whingeing about coming east!

You hit the nail on the head with the question. It's all about selling more TV rights and on-field uniforms in all their variation, and not about ground-level support of a team of brave lads who want to play footy. As it was in the first half of last century.

The good side might be if Andy de Meanie sells off the WCE to start the African competition, Brisbane to open the Indonesian Football League and one of the struggling Melbourne teams to become the Kiwis, to start the party for the Niew Zulland Ftbl Ligg.

  4. It's happening as we speak and it is only going to get bigger, remember Soccer took a long time to spread around the world from it's humble beginnings, from which English migrants took it to the four corners of the world, just like Aussie ex-pats are doing now in our life time, we may not see global domination like soccer but maybe 100 years down the track who knows?

  5. It is called delusions of grandeur. The AFL commission have the deluded believe that their game is great and will conquer the world if they expose it to enough people.

As for the rules, they have to keep changing them because they can't even get them right. Every time they change 1 rule, another suddenly becomes a problem. Someone needs to introduce the AFL to the KISS principle....Keep It Simple Stupid!!!!!

  6. Good call

I like the idea of exhibition matches but thats it

  7. i agreeeee!!!!!

    its so stupid

i think this'll be the last year i got to all the crows games

    its beyond the joke!

    its called Australian Rules Football

    AUSTRALIAN !!!

    its so fustrating ayee

    x

  8. It's pissing me off!!!!

It's all about the money....well everything is these days.

  9. i agree 100%

its the only sport in the world thant changes its rules every year also

    i miss the vfl mate

  10. I think you guys are missing the point.

I'm currently living in Europe and the people hear are passionate for Soccer, "the world game".

I go to work every monday and all i hear is "my team had a good game they won 2-1." The first goal was from a player who took a big dive, and the umpire gave a free kick.

But the other team shouldn't of got their goal because they were offside"

I would kill to see AFL played on any level over here.

Physical games such as AFL and rugby, test your character in ways you couldn't imagine. To put your body in front of the opposition and get hit, only to allow your team mate the space to kick the ball. It is the Australian way, and i've got the up most respect for the people that play a such a sport.

I'd love to be in South Africa and to see if someone would run backwards without looking knowing that Rocca is running at that ball. The rules and the score are not the most important things, it is the hart, the guts, and dedication.

Every country should adopt a world game where umpiring decisions and players acting abilities come second to the game.

  11. I agree with you absolutely, Forky. The great Aussie game is still not in control in NSW and QLD, but it is getting there.

Why go to to South Africa? Yes it is rugby land but the AFL needs to make marketing plans overseas where there is money. That is where the USA comes in. My country has the sponsorship money to spend--just if Andrew the Rocket Scientist and his band of idiots would figure it out.

Most Americans still think that Benny Graham and Sav Rocca were rugby players. Most Yanks don't know that Aussie Rules and rugby are completely different games.
