American here- I read the article about the guy who had his Loyd's password s "Loyd's is pants" and they gave him some trouble about it.

What does that mean- and what is the origin of the phrase?

  1. pants = poo = swear word which starts with S and ends with hit.

  2. Pants in American English means what we in Britain call 'trousers'.

In UK English, pants means what Americans call underwear.

So if you say something is pants, it is saying it is like underwear... basically a euphemism for saying something is rubbish, c**p, poor quality, etc.

  3. Pants means rubbish or c**p. (UK)
