  1. Too much chlorine? You should probably get a kit at your local pool store and test the water.

  2. You are probably over treating it with chlorine.  Use a PH meter you can get where you buy your pool chemicals and use it!

  3. And the correct answer is......

Too little chlorine usually manifests itself in the form of chloramines.  Too much biological matter not enough chlorine.

In parts as little as 0.5ppm chloramine will cause burning of the mucus membranes, eyes, throat and other places.

Normal chlorine levels 1-3ppm with 5 max, cannot be smelled or felt even up to 15-16ppm.

How to get rid of chloramines, super chlorinate or shock your pool.  Using liquid pool chlorine 12.5% sodium hypochlorite raise your free chlorine levels to 10x.  Do this when the sun is off the water and allow 3 hours to mix, leaving pump on.  The following day test for chlorine and swim when 1-5ppm.

Additionally, your pH could be to high or Total Alkalinity.  Take sample of pool water to pool supply for testing and recommendation for adjustment.

    You're welcome!!
