Ok. My Lhasa Apso is 10 months. And hes ust had a haircut. He had to get it really really short because his coat was matted underneath. Hes almost bald. Evertime i clap him and give him a cuddle he gives me a growl which he never usually does unless its his food im trying to take away. Hes always checking his thongs for some reason.

My mums friend says hers does the same because he is in a huff.

I just noticed that when i was putting his dog food out he was shaking. Is it just coz he is cold.

Can someone help?

  1. It could be because your dog is now cold because his coats gone maybe buy him a dog coat from a pet store or something. He probably growls at you because you got his fur cut maybe you could try and build up your relationship with him/her again.

    Good luck.

  2. If his coat was matted so much then my guess would be he is feelin very sore from his haircut.  Give him a few days and Im sure he will be fine.

And in the meantime do keep him warm !!!

  3. If you think tour dog is ill take him to the vet.

  4. Dogs do shiver when they've just had a bath.  However, when Bassets shiver, it also can mean they are in pain and I imagine it's the same with most other dogs?   So just to be sure, I'd get him checked out.  Could be something, or nothing

  5. Well his happened to my friends dog. The hairdresser cut a little bit of his skin. They will not bark or whimper because they do not know how to express pain. So, they do what they would do if they were trying to protect them self in the wild. All dogs have a little bit of wild instincts. Since the first dog to roam the world was wild.

  6. He definitely has food aggression. this is a HUGE problem. I'm not sure if that what the shaking is but that's what it seems like. You should hire a professional dog trainer right away. Until then work with your dog to let him know the food is yours and you are giving it to him.

  7. His skin could be irritated from the clippers, or he could be have sore muscles due to fighting against the nuese or clippers. Give him a few days.

  8. Maybe you should let your dog's hair grow abit first this may solve the problem if he is just cold; if you want more of an immediate effect then put a blanket over him when he is in his bed/basket sleeping. If he is in a huff then just give him some treats to help him come out the huff or give him time to do it himself. But if he doesn't get better in a couple of weeks then I would take him to the vet just to check everything is ok.

  9. Call your vet.  There is a problem.  Sounds like your dog is in pain.  Also, your dog needs to be taught not to growl at you for any reason including taking food.  That's unacceptable behavior.  I can take my dog's food anytime I want and he never growls.  That's not good behavior.  At any rate, please call your vet.  Good luck to you and your pup.
