For you and me very little but for people running for political office it's an insult to people's intelligence and a recipe that will leave many people disillusioned and frustrated with the political process. Those who believe the rhetoric will end up disappointed and might turn their back on the voting system all together.

Very little people vote in the US and that undermines the legitimacy of elected officials and the credibility of the US government as a representative of the American people.
