She falls over, rolls/shakes on the ground, pees herself, lays there for a couple of minutes. Within the hour she is back to normal. This has happened twice about a month apart now and i am wondering if anyone knows what is going on.

The vet said that it was not seizures (I thought it was and still do), just a heart problem. But then he x-rayed her heart and nothing was wrong. It does happen early in the morning and she is a little confused after.

  1. Your dog is having seizures, very common in Boston terriers. You need to have the vet check her and give you some medication to control it or to test her further to see what's causing it. It could be that the seizures are only a symptom of something worse. You might want to get a diffwewnt vwt for another opinion.

  2. sounds like a seizure go to a different vet! vets like normal doctors can be wrong so a second opinion is very importaint!

  3. i think he can be right because syncope looks like a seizure but it is not.

another name for it is acute collapse and it could be due to a variety of reasons.  Respiratory, cardiovascular, muscular, i would take the dog to an internal specialist that probably had more experience in this area.  sometimes it could even be a tumor but you will need to have more tests run.  an xray does not rule out heart failure you need an ultrasound.

  4. It sounds a lot like a seizure but could also be a complication from a heart murmur. I would go to a different vet just to be safe.

  5. I would take her to another vet to get a second opinion. That sounds like a seizure to me.

  6. How old is your Boston Terrier? I have had several before that have done that. Sometimes it is just part of what the breed does. My Boston Terrier often falls over and starts to choke on her tongue but we have had several opinions from different vets about this and they all assure us that its just part of the breed. If you feel like your not sure you can always go to another vet. I know the scary feeling to see something like that happen to your dog but I can assure you that it is actually normal.

  7. Without a doubt, seizures. Get a second opinion because I don't think the vet knows what he is talking about!

  8. If it's not seizures or epilepsy, he should really check the heart better or do a really good checkup and look for masses. I wouldn't take that answer if I were you. Or take her to another vet.

Here's something quick to check on her. Open her mouth slightly and check her gums.... are they pale or usual blood red color?

If they're pale then she has a low red blood cell count. If that's the case, call the vet immediately and tell him or take her to another vet.

    good luck.
