Whats wrong with my DVD player?

Today when I switched it on the picture was mostly dark red and black. The sound is normal. I checked all the leads and they are in tight, and I haven't moved it since the last time I used it. My TV works properly when the DVD player isn't plugged in. Any ideas?

Try switching dvd player on and leaving the tray open for 30 minutes without a disc inside. Maybe due to condensation if not used for a while.

a problem like that sounds familiar. normally when sound has gon completely or colours are not right, its the scart leads.

if they are all plugged in firmly, then i would suggest trying different scart leads, scart adapters etc.
