  1. Thermostat is the problem, but since you rent the LL needs to have maintanence come out and service it (no charge to you).

  2. It might need more frion, tell the apartment manager, same thing happened to me last summer.  He had to put more frion in it like twice a year.

  3. If you're in an apartment, call the office.  You're probably not authorized to mess with anything that will fix your problem.  That's what you pay rent for, anyways.

  4. A shot of refidgerant is the answer for your problem.

  5. Clean the air filter. That can be a problem, the air it sucks in, cant get in if there is dirt stopping if from  getting in. Therfore it cant cool the air and spit it out cold but lukewarm or hotter from overheating. That happend to my AC awhile back. Hope this helps!

  6. you may need to add refrigerant

  7. Maybe your air conditioner ran out of the chemical, which makes the air cool. I think you should call a repair man.

  8. First check the air filter.

Then turn the A/C on, and set the thermostat to 60 degrees, and visually check the following:

    1. Is the inside fan blowing? Is air coming out the vents?

    2. Walk outside and check out the condensing unit. Is the fan turning on that unit?

    3. If so, and you happen to have an amp meter, check to see if the compressor is pulling any amperage. To do this, disconnect the switch in the breaker box. Trace the wires coming from the compressor to the contactor. Turn the power back on and see if you get an amp reading. If it's pulling amps, seems like all the main components are running. Doesn't mean they are all good, but it does lead to the conclusion is most likely caused by a refrigerant undercharge.

Ants love heat. And a lot of times ants will attract to the outside contactor and get burned in there. Over a period of time, that will prevent the contactor from closing all the way, and a sign of this is if the outside unit is not running at all.

It could be so many things, but yea, I would be leaning towards a refrigerant undercharge. If that is what it turns out to be, just make sure whoever fixes the unit, also fixes the refrigerant leak. Otherwise it will leak out again and you will experience the same misery this time next year.

    Good luck

  9. make sure it has water in it.

  10. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm............idk

  11. emm maby a electrician may help you!!!

  12. probably out of freon.

  13. always assume it's the electricity ,check the line voltage coming to it,if it's 115 and the fan runs your probably ok,but if 220 the fan might run but can't move the compressor ,so check the breaker,i guess  it could leak down also, but you need a tech for that..............tom
