  1. are there any other inhabitants? b/c it looks like something has been nibbling at it

  2. I think its tail/fin rot...read the info here..

    http://bettatalk.com/betta_diseases.htm

I think its a very early stage..can be easily cured..and hurry before it gets bad...very good eye...hope he gets better soon..

  3. Is it a crowntail if is is then you have a single split crowntail. if it isn't then it could be fin rot and there are special medications for that i use merdell and i bought it at petsmart

  4. Maracide or Maracyn 2 for fin rot.  Make sure you take any carbon out of your filter.

  5. nothing dont worry if it keeps going

    it fin rot

  6. That looks like the very early stages of fin rot-- really, it might just be the normal tail.  Have the fins always looked like that?  If not, remove any activated carbon from the filter and begin treating with Maracyn 2, Furan 2, Maracyn TC, Triple Sulfa, Trisulfa, Kanaplex, or other gram negative effective antibiotics.  If using something that lists tetracycline or minocycline as an active ingredient, keep the tank dark, as these drugs degrade with exposure to light.
