Whats wrong with my chinchilla?!?

my chin is losing big patches of fur all over his body. i heard it could be stress but nothing i have done for him has changed. he seems relaxed and happy. he also eats the fur when it falls out. what can i do for him????

The most common explanation would be stress. Make sure your chinchilla has a quite place during the day and that he's not bothered by anything. He may also be lonely, chinchillas are very social creatures and live in pairs of up to 50 in the wild. Though, it could be a skin problem. Make sure you're not bathing him to much, as this can dry out his skin. Your chinchilla may also have a fungus problem. If this continues or gets worse, do seek a vet for help.
