I just started school again and sense my dog has been acting very strange. The normal play-full dog she used to be just seems gone. she will whine a little and seems very tiered and has lost her appetite. Shes more lazy the she used to be.

could it be depression? or thats she's not used to me being gone in the day? shes been through half a school year last year and was fine but now shes just diferent.. im worried and sad for her does anyone know ehat this could be?

  1. When your dog stops eating and gets very lethargic, there is cause for concern and she should be seen by the vet to determine what is causing this.

  2. Have you asked a vet?  These sound like fairly serious symptoms.  Does she have any other symptoms, like diarrhea, or drinking more water than usual?

I'm no vet, but your dog shouldn't stop eating just because you're gone.  I wouldn't waste any time, at least call a vet, she could have something serious.

  3. She could be depressed or anxious about the change in routine.  You've been home for 3 months straight, and now suddunly things are different again.

To be safe tho, have her examined by a vet.  She may be ill, and it could be coincidence that she started showing symptoms the same time school started.

  4. Some dogs, like humans, suffer from separation anxiety. Which is when your dog starts to begin to miss you and craves attention from you. This is sort of common for dogs. My advice would be to try and give her some attention in the morning but before leaving just ignore them. after a while start to show her attention and do this a little each day and she will hopefully get more used to you being gone. also i would play with your keys a lot just before you leave so they can see.

But most importantly if she loses her appitite completely take then take her to the vet because that could mean Depression! hope this could help!

  6. What's wrong is that the first thing you did was not take a strangely acting lethargic dog to the vet but to ask people on the internet. So yeah the person who can tell if this is an issue or not would be your vet. Your dog suddenly changing it's behavior is something that is NOT normal.

  7. you may think that i am crazy. but i think that she is not use to you being home all day. after a while she will probaly get better.

give her alot of attention when you get home.

and if nothing changes get her checked out

  8. This all could be a number of things.

Id say that she may need to see a vet soon,

that sounds more like a sick dog to me.

she may very well miss you,

although that is not all that is wrong.

    Good luck.
